Although many people choose to live here and commute to work in the big city, Golden Valley should not be understood as a bedroom community. There is big business located in this wooded little corner of Minnesota, including the General Mills headquarters and Dahlberg Industries, and United Healthcare, as well as the Courage Center (known nationally for its rehabilitation work).

Golden Valley real estate is diverse, with a high concentration of homes built in the 1950's. The price of a home in Golden Valley averages around $268,000, but prices range from very affordable to very exclusive.

This Hennepin County city of more than 20,000 people can't quite agree on where its name came from. Some believe the name derives from buttercups, while others think it was wheat, cowslips, sunflowers, or daffodils. Either way, you can imagine the beauty that early pioneers must have witnessed up here above the Mississippi River.
